Beyond Infinity

Infinity corrected macro photography…

… is not for the faint of heart! There is a lot we need to think about as we set about building our photography platforms for high magnification imagery, especially if we are using infinity corrected optics. In this video, I will walk you through the key considerations for setting up an infinity corrected microscope objective for photography. I will explain the nuanced differences between using a microscope tube lens, a Raynox close-up lens, and a telephoto camera lens as your relay optic.

Todays test subject

You will be introduced to a few new concepts, each of which will provide you with opportunities to try out new, flexible alternatives to standard high magnification photography setups. These include short focusing, variable afocal lens spacing, and objective relay pupil-matching.

I will also offer pointers on how to construct a test platform for fine-tuning your various lens arrangements.

Here is the video. Let me know if you have any questions!
